The American Islamic scholar Imam Majid visits Sudan
Within the framework of his visit to Sudan at the invitation of the Arab and African Youth Council (AAYC) and the US Embassy in Khartoum ,the Islamic scholar Imam Majid present a lecture in the opening session of the Deans Council on august 8,2015 at Imam Malik Hall- Omduman- Alardha, headed by Prof. Hassan Abbas Hassan, the OIU vice-chancellor. He talked about the phenomenon of religious extremism - causes and solutions through his personal experience, praising the OIU and its approach calling for moderation and rooting Science, pointing out that the phenomenon of extremism has the dimensions of intellectual and political, economic and social need for concerted efforts to address them also pointed to the need to consolidate and connect religious thought properly until the desired interaction and then there has been interventions and discussions with some faculty deans, stressing that the Omdurman University curricula dealing with such phenomena radically. Evidence is that the university and during its long history, it did not happen that an extremist student graduated from the OIU
Prof. Hassan Abbas Hassan thanked the Islamic scholar, Imam Majid, and US Embassy staff accompanying him on the visit to the University. He called for more communication and holding such meetings for the dissemination of intellectual interest.
